Concept Design Architect
This adaptive re-use of the historic Sarasota High School Gothic Revival building, will house studios for Ringling College of Art and Design on the first and third floor. Sandwiched in-between them will be the Sarasota Museum of Art.
The core concept of the museum is to emphasize the connection between process and product. Through a series of openings in the floor, ceiling and walls, the studios and the museum will be connected. This juxtaposition of the making of art, as expressed in the college studios, with the presentation of the finished art, as expressed in the museum will add to a visitors' traditional role as viewers of art; and give students an opportunity to share their processes with visitors.
