PANTHER RIDGE RESIDENCE

 

 

Inspired by the Architect’s roots in the tropics and his fascination with the rainforest - its lush landscapes and cascading waterfalls - this 4100 S.F. residence sits on a 7.8 acre site and is nestled among pines, oaks and two man-made ponds. This existing tropical environment is reflected in three architectural water elements: two reflecting koi ponds which “contain” the building at opposing diagonal corners as horizontal edges and a waterfall as the heart of a central courtyard. 

 

The transparency resulting from the open plan; the water features providing soothing sound and cooling effects; the light patterns; high ceilings; warm woods and the rest of the natural materials selected for this residence seamlessly blend indoors and outdoors into one experience.   They also become the natural response to the site's climate and its tropical influence.
